Clergerie turns 40.

Founded in 1981, the Maison is celebrating four decades of French design and craftsmanship with a fresh, spirited collaboration with Sofía Sanchez de Betak (aka Chufy).

Inspired by the Balearic Islands, this capsule collection is in for a long-haul adventure. Sofía Sanchez de Betak is a globetrotter, mother, artistic director, and businesswoman who shares a world that hints of other places with her brand Chufy and its gypsy-chic pieces. A true Clergerie muse, this traveling soul has created six pieces infused with the colors of her favorite island: Mallorca.

The collection’s subtle harmony includes two of the Maison’s iconic styles and four new pairs of shoes designed by Sofía Sanchez de Betak. Leather, raffia, fabric... Each piece combines travel and that French je-ne-sais-quoi, evoking the key elements that have made Clergerie a success. Ribbons and scarves add a common twist to each piece, boasting prints inspired by Chufy’s wanderlust. Tied here and there, adorning a boot’s shaft or a sandal’s straps, these luxurious details infuse the pieces with rhythm and excitement, while remaining true to the Maison.

Available starting in September, this exclusive capsule collection debuts with two iconic loafers—one in lambskin with printed lining, the other in printed satin—and a riding boot with an architectural trotter heel wrapped with a scarf.

In November, the line will expand to include four new pieces featuring raffia, a signature Clergerie material. New sandals were designed in collaboration with Chufy, decked out with prints conjuring the dolce vita. Their airy ribbons embrace the ankles or grace the lining of braided mules with a perfect combination of craftsmanship and modernity.

The intersection of the authentic and audacious world of the French Maison and the creative cheek of Sofía Sanchez de Betak has produced a line of footwear that highlights Clergerie’s craftsmanship. In keeping with tradition, each pair of the capsule collection is made in Romans-sur-Isère, in the south of France.

Sofía Sanchez de Betak, the muse and face of Clergerie, is the embodiment of the independent, successful woman of today, defining her own codes of elegance while promoting freedom of movement.
